The Craze City field guide / 01
Cat games on mobile: own a cat or play as one?
First decide whether you want to play as a cat, care for a cat or have a cat follow your human character. These are three different kinds of game. A cute cat on the app icon can describe any of them, so look for the player-controlled character and the repeated activity in gameplay footage.

A player’s guide from the studio building Craze City. The full mobile game is prelaunch; the café browser challenge is playable now.
Playing as a cat puts movement first
When the cat is your avatar, the interest often comes from seeing a familiar space at a different scale. Look for what you can do with that viewpoint: jump onto furniture, investigate corners or move through spaces a human character could not use. The meaningful feature is the interaction, not simply a lower camera.
Watch how movement handles small targets. A narrow ledge can be enjoyable with predictable controls and frustrating with imprecise steering. If you are playing on a phone, check actual touch footage. A cinematic leap does not show whether you can judge distance while your thumbs cover part of the screen.
Caring for a cat makes routine the game
A virtual-care game may centre on food, cleaning, toys or collecting different animals. Find out whether care needs are gentle prompts or strict timers. Returning after a break should match the mood you wanted. A cat game can look peaceful while still relying on frequent check-ins.
Think about the interactions you would enjoy repeating. Choosing a toy and watching a response is different from tapping a meter until it fills. Neither requires complicated animation, but the game should make the result of your action clear. A large wardrobe does not substitute for care mechanics if looking after the cat is why you searched.
A companion cat leaves your routine intact
In a life sim, a cat can join your existing character without becoming the whole game. This suits someone who wants a pet in a wider city routine. You may spend most of the session working, dressing your avatar or exploring, with the cat nearby.
The trade-off is that companionship can be mechanically light. Check whether the cat has interactions or simply follows. If the description says cosmetic, take that literally: it is an appearance and atmosphere feature. That can be exactly what you want, but it should not be confused with a full cat-care simulator.
Craze City's cat is a companion
The current build offers a cosmetic cat pet that follows the player. You continue to play your own character. This page does not advertise a playable cat avatar, kitten breeding or a feeding schedule. The pet companion guide explains those distinctions across the wider category.
A good way to judge the rest of the game is to look at the character creator and city captures. They show the human character and environment being developed. Craze City is still prelaunch, so the cat illustration on the website should be read as promotional art rather than proof that the mobile game is available today.

Where Craze City fits
Craze City’s cat follows your character as a cosmetic pet in the current development build. It does not replace your avatar. This makes the game relevant to people who want a cat beside them in a city, rather than those specifically looking to control a cat.

Can I play as the cat in Craze City?
That is not what the current companion system offers. You play your own character, and the cosmetic cat follows you.
What should I search for if I want to control a cat?
Use phrases such as play as a cat or cat exploration game, then check gameplay to confirm that the animal is the player-controlled character.
